Prepare to gasp in amazement. Last week I found out that I am now an Advanced Professional Member of the SfEP (that’s Society for Editors and Proofreaders for those of you not up to date on your acronyms).
‘Advanced’ doesn’t refer to the fact I’m getting older (I am) or that I’ve been gifted some kind of bionic brain (I have not). It means that I’ve shown evidence of “a high degree of competence and substantial experience in copy-editing or proofreading”. As a member of the SfEP I abide by the society’s code of practice, which you can read more about here.
The SfEP also offers loads of great courses, open to non-members too, to help improve your editing and proofreading skills.
If you’re in need of some editorial help of an ‘Advanced Professional’ nature, then please get in touch.
